Kicking Off a New Partnership: Blackman Welcomes Team Rinnai

All photos included in this post and on our Facebook page were taken by Creepwalk Media

As a solid kickoff to the heating season, we proudly welcomed Rinnai into our portfolio of trade brands. To celebrate our new partnership and showcase their latest products, we co-hosted the Rinnai Kickoff Event; an evening of customer education, fine dining, and celebrity NFL appearances.

Rinnai: A History of Innovation and Comfort

Rinnai was founded in 1920 by Hidejiro Naito and Kanekichi Hayashi as a manufacturer of pressurized oil cooking stoves in Japan. However, by the early 1930’s, the company expanded focusing on gas cooking stoves, as well as range and space heaters. By 1964 the founders and their team had successfully engineered their products to heat home and commercial water systems safely and efficiently.

The organizations legacy of efficiency and quality certainly carries on today, as more than 2 million homes in North America have installed the companies Tankless Water Heaters.

Blackman and Rinnai: The Kickoff Event

Football fan… us too. When determining the best way to showcase Rinnai and their new product lineup to our top trade customers, we thought no better a way than with New York Jets legends Wesley Walker, Erik Coleman and Jets beat writer Rich Cimini.

The evening, which began with product information stations and refreshments, grew competitive as customers rushed to have their scorecard punched. This card, given out upon entrance, was punched after visiting each information station. After successfully filling out the card, customers were granted the ultimate reward of a signed football and photo opportunity with Jets legends Wesley Walker and Erik Coleman.

After presentations had concluded and customers had finished their final course, it was time for the Jets panel discussion. “Our recent Jets theme customer night was spectacular, working with Blackman and sponsor Rinnai was fantastic. Jets Legends Wesley Walker and Erik Colemen were personable and engaged. It was a fantastic night,” said Tony Palmisano, Horizon Consulting event organizer.

The Winning Touchdown: Event Success

“Thanks to the partnership with Blackman, Rinnai Tankless Water Heaters and Boilers are available to contractors across Long Island and New Jersey!  The Kick-off event in Babylon was the perfect way for Blackman to show their contractors the very best Rinnai has to offer,” said Jason Fitzsimmons, Rinnai Northeast Regional Sales Director.

Kohler in Bloom at the Art League of Long Island

Blackman Hosts Kohler in Bloom at the Art League of Long Island

We love to host a good party! Last weeks Kohler in Bloom event was no exception. Many of our closest A&D friends joined us as we launched new faucets and sinks from Kohler and Kallista at the Art League of Long Island. Customers previewed the latest Kohler products including the new Ombre faucet finish and Kohler Components faucet collection. Our guests were also able to enjoy the Art League’s impressive gallery space.

The Art League of Long Island

Established in 1955, the Art League of Long Island, located in Dix Hills NY, is a not-for-profit visual arts organization offering classes and workshops for children and adults, from beginner to advanced levels. Their Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery hosts a dozen exhibits per year, featuring contemporary works by many local artists. When we visited the space we instantly knew this was where we would host our Kohler in Bloom Event.

Kohler and Kallista product displays were artfully placed within the airy two-story art gallery. Big Picture works were currently on display and did not disappoint!  Local artists from Suffolk, Nassau, Brooklyn, and Queens were invited to submit applications to show large works in the League’s spacious gallery. Out of 259 works submitted by 115 artists, 39 works were selected to exhibit in the gallery by Exhibition Juror Bruce Lieberman.

Guests mingled and enjoyed drinks and a luxurious spread from La Promenade of Teaneck, New Jersey. Attendees entered to win a gift certificate from the Art League of Long Island and a floral-themed Kohler Dutchmaster sink. Our favorite DJ Twilo was onsite dancing the night away; a video booth created an even more festive atmosphere for this electrifying evening. Local artist and friend of the Art League, Larry Aarons joined the fun sketching portraits for our attendees.

The Kohler Blackman Partnership

“The collaboration between Kohler and Blackman paid dividends for this amazing event! What a great way to promote our new faucet product introductions in such a beautiful venue with key customers on Long Island,” said Jill Mueller, Associate Channel Manager at Kohler.

Setta Tavitian, Senior Sales Executive at Kohler, agreed. “Incorporating the new faucets and sinks from Kohler and Kallista in the art gallery setting and treating like them like they were pieces of art drove home the point that the faucets in a bathroom are the jewelry with which you accessorize the space,” she noted. “I loved that no detail was overlooked and that even though the event was in an art gallery setting, the mood was fun an upbeat with a DJ, video booth and the inviting way the caterer displayed the food.”

Event Success

That upbeat mood contributed to a successful evening, according to David Lyon Vice President Retail at Blackman. “I just loved how everyone was interacting with the products displayed and the art at the Art League!”

Allison Eden’s Colorful Textile Collection Launched in West Palm Beach Showroom

Allison Eden Textile Launches at Blackman West Plam Beach.

Written By Gwen Donovan

Tropical colors and rainbow-bright shades took over Blackman’s West Palm Beach showroom on March 20 when Brooklyn-based glass artist Allison Eden introduced her newest line of textiles to about 130 guests: Allison Eden Textiles. The evening launch party featured cocktails and hors d’oeuvres amid Eden’s vividly-patterned fabrics and throw pillows. Sponsored by DXV, Benjamin Moore and Media Sponsor Jupiter and The Palm Beacher magazines of the Gulfstream Media Group, guests were impressed by this fresh new collection from the artist based on her mosaic glass art installations.

The guest of honor herself was proud to showcase her collection at the launch party, saying “It was so fabulous! Thank you so much for the support and the absolutely beautiful party; it was such a fantastic crowd as well.” Dressed in a flowing caftan made from her own line of fabric, Allison Eden mingled easily among the guests as she shared her design inspirations for the collection.

“Our expectations, as event co-sponsor, ran high for the premier event,” said Melissa Blanchenay, A & D Representative for Benjamin Moore & Co.  “Allison Eden and her new line of textiles did not disappoint! To learn from Ms. Eden that she drew inspiration from Benjamin Moore’s newest line of super-premium interior paint Century, a luscious green color named Viridian (06), was all it took for me to know we were lucky to be a part of the night. The guests were attentive, subtle music played in the background, the food was delicious and the custom “lips” cookies based on one of her designs put a kiss on a perfect night.”

Laura Zele, Sales Account Manager for Jupiter magazine and The Palm Beacher, also shared her positive impressions of the evening. “It was a great party with great people! I loved meeting Allison. She is as colorful and full of fun as her fabrics and tiles. What a treat to meet her in person!”

Developed with LebaTex through whimsical explorations of shapes, colors and images, the textiles reflect Allison Eden’s pop art style and famous glass art installations. Her collection of fabrics and pillows is perfect for adding a dash of personality to any room in the house and is now available at Blackman showrooms in West Palm Beach and Southampton.

Written By: Gwen Donovan

The latest issue of Blackman at Home magazine was officially launched in Blackman Plumbing Supply’s West Palm Beach showroom during an evening reception on Thursday, March 8. This high-profile event also launched Kallista’s newest line of fixtures, the ultra-modern Grid Collection.

Blackman at Home: The Magazine Vision

David Lyon, Vice President of Retail for Blackman, spoke about the growing success of Blackman at Home magazine, remarking on the extended length of the current issue. “This magazine started out as a small publication of about 60 pages, and this new issue is now 166 pages and growing. It has become so popular that we are going to be producing it on a quarterly basis.” Lyon also introduced Kallista’s Lead Designer Bill McKeone, who explained the innovative process used to create the Grid collection as well as the shift toward modern and transitional looks in fixtures. McKeone has over 600 patents in design and his contributions to Grid represent one of the first 3D-printed faucet in the industry.

Party-goers enjoyed champagne and themed cocktails such as custom martinis with black olives, a tribute to the matte black finish of Grid. A sushi station, charcuterie boards and passed hors d’oeuvres kept guests well-fed, while the model wearing a custom dress created from the pages of Blackman at Home magazine added a unique touch to the festive atmosphere.

“The collaboration between Blackman and Kallista is flourishing,” said Erica O’Brien, Kallista Channel Manager-Showrooms. “The Grid faucet, recent recipient of Architectural Digest’s Great Design 2018 award, was featured in a working water display where guests could really experience the functionality and feel the smooth matte black surface.  As usual, it was a pleasure working with the Blackman team and we look forward to the next event.”

The Winter Issue.

The current issue of Blackman at Home magazine is arranged in four different ‘chapters’ focused on Blackman’s upscale market areas in the Palm Beaches, New York City, Brooklyn and New Jersey’s Gold Coast.  “We wanted to produce something unique using an editorial approach that covered the diverse cultural offerings, artistic opportunities, design trends, real estate communities and eclectic dining options available in each region,” said Lyon. “This issue went above and beyond our expectations, and we were thrilled with the positive response we got from all the guests who attended the launch party, many of whom were also featured in its pages.”

Notable friends of Blackman were in attendance. Vicki Kirsner from the Florida Chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association, representatives from regional magazine publishers including Jupiter and Palm Beacher magazines, interior designers, public relations specialists and manufacturer representatives. Party-goers browsed through expansive showroom displays of stylish bath vignettes unique tile work and sparkling lighting options.

“We were thrilled with the support we received for our Luxury High Rise Living issue at the West Palm Beach showroom launch,” said Lyon. “It was a memorable night for everyone in attendance, and we continue to take great pride in this fabulous publication.”
